Hunting

The Battenkill Inn is located in the heart of the Green Mountains. Vast public and private lands hold tremendous hunting and shooting opportunities for all levels of hunters.

Turkey Hunting in Vermont

In the spring, turkey hunting is exceptional!

The natural beauty and large populations of turkeys make Vermont an ideal destination for the serious turkey hunters. Turkey season runs the entire month of May. A valid Vermont Hunting license is needed with a turkey tags allows you up to two bearded turkeys a season.

In the autumn, hunting kicks into high gear.

The Green Mountains are home to many upland game birds.

Learning to use a rifle

From October through December the upland game bird hunting is a must!

  • Grouse season starts the last Saturday in September through December 31st.
  • Pheasant season starts the last Saturday in September through December 31st.
  • Woodcock season starts in early October and ends in early November.

Our guides know the area and have the best dogs to put you over some birds.

If you just want to get a breath of fresh air from shopping, we can set up some sandpit clay pigeons shooting. Let us know in advance and we can set it up.

A valid Vermont Hunting license is needed for bird hunting.

Fly fishing is still open until the end of October,
so don't forget to bring that rod!
